A Ground Breaking Event!
On June 8th, 2020, the grading work started for Standing Stone Village and on June 13th the groundbreaking ceremony was held. It was going to be a dusty affair, but the night before the ceremony, with lightning and thunder all around it poured rain for 15 minutes saturating the soil and eliminating the dust. And if that was not enough of a good omen, when the sun broke through under the clouds, a brilliant rainbow formed over what will become Standing Stone Village.

In a wonderful sign of support, twenty old student residents from North Fork turned out for the ceremony adorned with face masks due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Craig gave a brief introduction and highlighted how the current old student residents, with their social gatherings, group hikes, work parties and service to the center already offer a welcoming presence to future residents of the community. He went on to say that the project would enhance and become an integral part of this group. Craig ended his introduction, with a quote borrowed from John saying, “If you lived here you would be home already!"

The earth moving equipment will be on site most of the summer, transforming the meadow areas into the building pads for 26 homes and a small group home. The driveway and parking areas around the perimeter will also be created as part of this work. Once completed the building lots will be easily identifiable and the layout of the Village will start to take shape.
Standing Stone Village Site Plan
The grading is being funded by contributions from several households that have become members of the Standing Stone Village LLC. Once grading is completed, the hope is to move into the construction of the remaining infrastructure and the first phase of 7 to 8 homes. This is contingent on having commitments to purchase the homes along with additional investments in the project. If you are interested in more information in becoming a future homeowner and/or in supporting the project financially, please send an email to: craigrublee@standingstonevillage.org
